Leadership

Zsolt TOROK PhD

Chief Executive Officer
Received PhD in membrane biophysics in 1992, senior staff member of the Biological Research Center in Szeged. Research interests are understanding the role of biological membranes in sensing environmental stress (including pathophysiological conditions); using ultrasensitive fluorescence microscopy to study plasma membrane nanostructures; and role of stress proteins in membrane stabilization and developing membrane lipid therapy. Spent many years as postdoc and senior scientist in Utrecht University, The Netherlands and University of California, Davis, USA. Has 56 publications and over 1340 citations.

Gabor BALOGH PhD

Chief Research Officer
Received PhD in biochemistry at the Cardiff University, senior staff member of the Biological Research Center in Szeged. Research interests are development and application of lipidomics techniques and information technology solutions in the areas of lipidomics. He has great experience in mass spectrometry of lipids, membrane and lipid biochemistry and biophysics, lipids in membrane function and signal transduction. Spent many years as postdoc and senior scientist in CNR Naples, Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris, CNR Rome and does regular visits in the University of Regensburg. Has 34 publications and over 1250 citations. Member of the local Organizing and Scientific Committee of 14th International Conference of Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation and Related Diseases in 2015, Budapest Hungary.

Ibolya HORVATH PhD

Chief Scientific Officer
Received PhD in biochemistry at the University of Szeged in 1980, senior staff member from 1986. Focuses on understanding the temperature adaptation and stress response/tolerance of different organisms at the level of the membrane. Spent about 6 years as postdoc and senior scientist in The Netherlands, the United States (Texas and California), England, France and Japan. Lately her studies are focused on the operation of signaling cascades starting from the surface membranes and resulting in refined stress protein response in various disease states of mammalian cells. She is at home in cell culturing, different membrane/lipid biochemistry methods and also in protein work. Has 103 publications and 4 patents, over 3200 citations.

Maria PETER PhD

Chief Technology Officer
Received PhD in pharmaceutical sciences in 2001, research associate of the Biological Research Center in Szeged. Research interests are development and application of lipidomics techniques, mass spectrometry of lipids, membrane and lipid biochemistry., membrane function and signal transduction. Spent couple of months as postdoc and scientist in the University of Ghent Belgium and Comenius University of Bratislava Slovakia. Has 27 publications and over 130 citations.

Zoltan SAGI MD

Chief Medical Officer
Received medicine doctoral degree in 2005 and chartered economist degree in 2010. He is a respiratory physician and PhD candidate in Doctoral School of Interdisciplinary Medicine.
